Broken Wand – John Calvert

As you are probably aware, legendary magician John Calvert has passed away at the age of 102.

Many tributes have appeared on all the social media sites including Facebook and Twitter. The Hollywood Reporter reported on the loss and you can read that by Clicking HERE.

    The passing of John Calvert was a great blow to the magic community. His long illness depleted funds which were necessary for his comfort.     I had the honor and privlige to act as stage manager for a weeks run in my area. I learned quite a bit in that short time from John. We thought it was going to be a retirement show back in 95 after the closing show, where magicians frim all over attended, he decided to continue working. During several curtain calls, he and Tammy asked for me to join them on stage where John literally picked me up in his arms during the applause. Good voyage sir.

    Will miss that John is not around. He became family friend during his stay in south Jersey when he and Tammy attended my dad’s church. When he was visiting we always had to check for our watches before he left, but he course he always returned them before we knew they were gone. A character and a man of the same.
